"Daily Story Seeds" Now in Print!
I don’t know a single writer who didn’t feel at least a little giddy with joy after holding, for the first time, a printed version of a book they wrote.
Almost two months ago, I got to have that experience myself, after receiving a print proof copy of the physical version of Daily Story Seeds in the mail. The giddiness wore off somewhat quickly, as the cover of the print proof wasn’t quite right (I have since learned the importance of “bleeding” when it comes to print book covers and Amazon’s KDP Previewer!).
Still, it was a crazy, surreal feeling, especially as I never thought I’d be venturing into the field of publishing printed books so soon. eBooks are fairly easy to manage, but the need for a print-specific cover and concerns about formatting have been holding me back.
Until now.
A few days ago I got a printed copy in the mail that cleared my quality-control bar, and I was admittedly giddy. Again.
And I have to give serious kudos to 100Covers, especially Matt, who delivered amazing customer service and a cover image that far surpassed my initial (feeble) attempt at my own cover:
So, yeah, that’s why you should never design your own book covers unless you’re a, you know, book cover designer.
Attentive readers might have noticed the manuscript under the DSS print book above. It’s the first novella-maybe-novel-when-it’s-all-said-and-done for a fantasy series I’ve been writing off and on for years.
More on that - plus the other writing projects I’ve got in the hopper - in my next update.
For now, I’m looking forward to a seriously heart-stopping amount of turkey, gravy, and stuffing in a few days. And happily, I managed to squeeze in my doctor-ordered annual blood draw before Thanksgiving proper, so the cholesterol curveball won’t be too cringe-inducing. But let’s make that our little secret, ‘mkay?
Wishing you and yours a holiday weekend of fun, family, and friends!
